Terminal designations, using numbers and letters, are used in automotive electrical systems to simplify the connection of wires. They also help in troubleshooting and in finding the right place in vehicle wiring diagrams. The terminal designations are found on the component terminals and in circuit diagrams.
The terminal designations do not identify the cable, but its end, the terminal. Components with the same or different terminal designations can be connected to both ends of a line. If there is no voltage at this terminal or at the relay, the motor control unit will not receive any voltage.
