Function of lateral acceleration sensor

The lateral acceleration sensor measures the lateral guidance forces occurring on the vehicle. This enables the ABS/DSC control unit to detect whether the vehicle has a tendency to swerve or could skid (such as on black ice). As soon as there are signs of instability or unfavorable driving conditions, the ABS/DSC system reacts and stabilizes the vehicle by braking single or multiple tires with pinpoint accuracy.

This proactive adjustment ensures that the vehicle maintains optimal traction and stability, even under challenging conditions. Additionally, by constantly monitoring lateral forces, the lateral acceleration sensor helps to enhance the effectiveness of other safety features such as roll stability control and active rollover protection. This integration across systems allows for a seamless and coordinated response to potential hazards, providing drivers with a safer and more controlled driving experience.
