Functionality height sensors
Height sensors determine the exact vehicle height. They are important for headlamp leveling and vehicles with air suspension. When loaded, vehicles tend to sit lower in the rear, which causes the headlights to shine further up. To prevent glare, sensors regulate the headlight position.
On vehicles with air suspension, the sensor detects loading or trailers and adjusts the vehicle to its original height. On adaptive air suspensions, sensors allow the vehicle height to be adjusted via a switch in the passenger compartment. The sensors are usually mounted on the front and rear axles and connected to the control arm by a control rod.
