If this defect is detected, it may lead to the following problems:
- Restriction of driving comfort
- Failure of the exhaust emission test (Failure to pass the exhaust emission test)
Functionality differential intake system
Pressure fluctuations in an engine's intake manifold create pressure waves that promote the "reheat effect" by directing more intake air into the cylinder. With the DISA unit, advantages of short and long intake manifolds can be combined: Short or wide intake manifolds increase power in the upper rpm range, while long or narrow intake manifolds increase torque in the mid rpm range.
The DISA connecting flap creates long intake runways for higher torque by closing and opens for short intake runways and high power. The flap is electrically controlled by a vacuum accumulator and vacuum valve, and no vacuum hose is required.
