Functionality crankcase ventilation
When fuel is burned in the engine, so-called "blow-by gases" are produced. This refers to gases that flow into the engine block (crankcase). The gases contain small oil droplets and fuel residues, which is why the gases must not be released into the environment.
The gases are therefore filtered through an oil separator and fed back into the fuel combustion system. This recirculation of the gases is handled by the crankcase ventilation system. In most vehicles, the oil separator is located on or near the valve cover. The valve, on the other hand, is usually located in the crankcase ventilation tubing.
