The coolant bypass valve regulates the amount of coolant flowing into the interior heat exchanger. The coolant in the passenger compartment basically has the task of providing heat for the heating system in the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
The coolant bypass valve can be positioned in two valve positions overall.
Either the valve is open so that coolant can flow into the passenger compartment or the valve is closed so that the coolant flows back into the engine's cooling circuit. In most vehicles, the valve for the coolant bypass is installed near the bulkhead (separating the passenger compartment from the engine compartment).
