Thanks for your quick reply! That sounds like a pretty extensive repair... Do you happen to remember how much it cost you to fix the problem? And has anything else happened since this repair or is your car now running perfectly again? Many thanks in advance for your feedback! Best regards!

Yes, it was quite a job to fix it, but since then my car has been as good as new. The cost of fixing the faulty control unit is around €600. That may seem a lot, but the quality of the work was really worth it. The fault in the exterior door handle electronics has not been heard from since then and everything else is running smoothly. I have to say, the mechanic did a great job this time. Hope this helps you! Best regards!

Thank you very much for your detailed reply and the helpful information! It sounds like a big investment, but if the car runs smoothly again afterwards, then it's certainly worth it. I'll make an appointment at my garage and talk to them about the control unit. Your positive experiences are encouraging. Thank you again for your advice and support! Best regards!

Hi there, I have experienced similar issues with my 2012 Ford S-Max. On my car it was actually a problem with the control unit, which even explains the problem with the interior light fluctuations. Last time at the garage they found that the ECU was faulty. The whole process from reading the fault memory to the final repair was quite extensive. They had to replace the whole part. It was a serious problem, definitely not an everyday problem. So you might want to have the control unit checked. Hope this helps you! Best regards!
