Overheating

Hey guys, I have a problem with my 2005 Ford Focus, gasoline engine. The oil light is on, strange noises are coming from the engine and it is overheating. I suspect it might be the engine oil temperature sensor, but I'm not sure. Have any of you noticed similar symptoms in your car and can give me any troubleshooting tips? How did you solve the problem in your garage and what were your experiences? I would appreciate your opinions and advice!

Hi mate, I once had a similar problem with my 2003 Ford Fiesta. My knowledge of cars is not high, but I know a bit about them. The coolant level in my car was too low and that caused the overheating problem. I got it sorted out at the garage and it only cost me 52 euros. It could be the same for you. Can you perhaps provide more information about your car, for example, when was the last time you changed the engine oil? This can help to get a better picture of the situation.

Hey, thanks for the tip! I've already checked the coolant level, unfortunately that's not it. I last changed the engine oil at 149932 km, which is my current mileage. Nothing has changed since then and the problems are still there. Any other ideas? I'm really at a loss.

Gosh, that sounds like a really tricky problem! In my Fiesta, the oil sensor was actually defective. Perhaps this is also the case with your Focus? It could explain why the oil light is on. My garage replaced the faulty sensor and it cost around 100 euros. Of course, it could also be the spark plugs, which sometimes make strange noises. Have you had them tested? But don't worry, if necessary you just have to go to a garage, they can usually sort it out in no time at all. Anyway, I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's nothing serious!

Thanks for your help! Yes, I have already thought about a problem with the oil sensor. Maybe I should actually go to the garage and have it checked. And thanks for the tip about the spark plugs, I hadn't even thought about that. Really nice of you, thanks for keeping your fingers crossed!

Hello, this sounds like a critical issue. What I suggest you do is check the oil level first, then inspect for leaks. If the oil is fine, it might be the oil pump or sensor. I would recommend you do not drive the car until diagnosed. If unsure, consult a mechanic to avoid further damage or issues. Good luck!

It's great that you're considering all possibilities. However, given the symptoms you've described - the oil light being on, strange noises from the engine, and overheating - this could indicate a serious issue, possibly with the oil pump or even engine damage. I strongly recommend getting your car to a professional mechanic as soon as possible to avoid further damage. Please do not attempt to drive the car in this condition.

Let our mechanics help you!
