Hi guys, I need your help. My 2010 Ford Fiesta ( petrol engine, good 117,904 km run ) is really acting up at the moment. The check engine light is on, the engine stalls on its own and loses power. It also jerks when accelerating, consumes a lot of fuel and wobbles when idling. Could the problem perhaps be with the crankcase ventilation? Have any of you ever had similar symptoms and can tell me about your experiences at the garage? Last time I had pretty bad luck with my mechanic and I would like to be better prepared. Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2007 Ford Focus. My crankcase ventilation was actually defective, just as you suspected. The symptoms were very similar - engine jerks when accelerating, irregular idling, high fuel consumption and check engine light on. In my case, the entire crankcase ventilation system had to be replaced. It was a serious problem that also had the potential to damage other parts of the engine if not fixed in time. But after the repair, my car ran like new again. So yes, it could definitely be the crankcase breather. But of course your mechanic should take a close look and confirm it.
