Excessive Bouncing

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my 2019 Ford Edge (gasoline, 128,612 km mileage) and need your advice. My car is bouncing around wildly on the bumps and the warning light in the speedometer is constantly on. I suspect that something is wrong with the damper adjustment in the suspension. Have you ever had anything like this? What are your experiences with garages for repairs like this? My last experience with a mechanic was not so great. Many thanks in advance!

Hi, I drive a 2016 Ford Mondeo and had a similar problem. However, it wasn't actually the damper adjustment, but the control unit was faulty. The control unit is basically the brain of the vehicle, controlling the various systems and components of the car. The control unit had to be replaced in the workshop. This took some time because the right parts had to be ordered. It wasn't exactly a small job, but after the repair the car ran as usual again, without any problems. I was lucky with the garage - they did a good job on the last repair. So maybe the control unit is the culprit for you too and not the damping. I hope this helps you!

Hey, so it could be that it's more likely the control unit, hmm... interesting. Thanks for the tip, I would never have thought of that. As for the cost of your repair, do you still remember it? And have you had any further problems since then or has everything been running smoothly so far? Thanks a million!

Exactly, it could also have been the control unit. Contrary to my initial assumption, the fault was actually in the suspension damper adjustment. But since I've been to the mechanic, the problem has been solved. As for the costs: I paid €1000 for the repair of the defective control unit, which is not exactly cheap, but hey, what can you do for your car, right? Since the repair, my Ford Mondeo has been running really well, no further problems so far. I hope it stays that way, keep your fingers crossed! Hope I was able to help you, good luck with your car!

Hello everyone, thanks for the quick feedback! I really wouldn't have thought that it could be the control unit. Your advice has really helped me. The repair costs are pretty hefty, but you're right, we'll do anything for our car, won't we? I will take my Ford Edge to the mechanic next week, this time to a different garage, hopefully they will have more experience with this problem. Keep your fingers crossed that it goes better this time! Thanks again, I'll keep you posted!
