Ford Ecosport 2015: Check engine light and fuel filler flap position sensor error

Check engine light on

Hey guys, I've recently had a problem with my 2015 Ford Ecosport, gasoline, with a whopping 110,011 kilometers on the clock. My check engine light is on, there is a warning on the speedometer and an error is stored. I'm guessing the position sensor for the fuel filler flap has gone, right? Have any of you ever experienced something similar and how did your trusted garage solve the problem? Last time I had a really bad experience with the mechanic. Thanks for your help!

Hey, had the same problem with my 2012 Ford Mondeo, the indicator light kept coming on. Luckily nothing serious, although it looked like it at first. At my garage it turned out that my control unit was faulty. They had to replace it completely and my position sensors were fine. So maybe that's something you should also consider. At first it also seemed like a sensor problem. So don't worry, it sounds worse than it is!

Hi, thanks for the tip! So I'd better have the control unit looked at, okay, I'll give it a try. Do you happen to remember what you paid for it? And have you had any problems with the control unit since then? Please don't tell me that this is an ongoing issue...

I had to pay just under €1000 for the control unit back then. It's been quiet since the repair though, so it's not an ongoing issue, don't worry ;) Oh, and I forgot to mention that on my last visit to the mechanic, the fuel filler flap position sensor was actually faulty, but it was fixed without any problems. So, off to the garage and have it checked so that you can drive again with peace of mind!

Hi, yup, €1000 sounds steep at first, but if it's quiet afterwards, I'll take it. I don't fancy constant visits to the garage any more. So I'm going to visit the mechanic tomorrow morning and pass on your recommendations. It's great that the sensor could be fixed quickly. I hope it's just as easy for me. Thanks again for your help!
