Whoa, thanks for that detailed reply! Looks like I've been barking up the right tree with my sensor suspicions. Your step-by-step recap certainly put a lot into perspective for me. Anyway, just out of interest, do you still remember how much did it cost you to get that cable replaced and the sensor recalibrated? Also, did you come across any other related problems since they fixed that for you? Cheers!
Hey there! You bet, I remember the visit to the mechanic pretty well. So, to replace the cable and reset the sensor to get it reading accurately again, they quoted me around €95. Not too shabby considering it solved the issue right away. Ever since getting it sorted, my Arkana's been doing fine - no more AC or heating weirdness. That pesky sensor problem has been completely put to bed since then. So, really, spending that bit was totally worth it! Let me know how it goes for you! Cheers!
Hi again, Wow, I've got to say, that cost doesn't sound too bad at all! Your feedback has really cleared some things up for me. Glad to hear your car's been doing great post-repair, that definitely gives me some peace of mind. I'll get my Arkana to the garage and point them towards the sensor connection issue. Hoping for the best! If things go sideways, I might touch base with you for some more advice. Thanks again! Catch ya later!
Hey, I totally feel ya! Had a similar thing with my 2019 Renault Captur last year. The AC was going haywire, and the heating/cooling felt off. Turned out it was a cable issue from the sensor, just like you suspected. The connection had gone defective and was sending skewed signals to the system. Tbh, it sounds super technical but it wasn't a crazy serious problem. The blokes at the garage had to dig around a bit to find out what was wrong. After they pinpointed the sensor cable as the culprit, the solution wasn't that hard. The work they did was a two-parter – firstly, they decided to check the sensor and the wiring connected to it. Turned out the sensor itself was okay, but the cable connecting it was a bit dodgy. They ended up replacing the cable to restore the connection. The second part was re-calibrating the sensor to make sure it started reading the ambient temperature correctly again. This was the finicky bit because getting the sensor to sync correctly with the AC and heating systems took a bit of tweaking. Anywho, after they sorted all that out, the AC and heating were back to normal. So yeah, it could be your sensor connection playing up. Hope this helps and good luck!
