Fiat Toro Experiencing Battery Drain and Flickering Lights: Seeking Advice and Mechanic Experiences

Dim or flickering lights

Weak battery when starting the engine

Hey I've got a '15 Fiat Toro, gas engine, with a cool 152,835 km on the clock. Lately she's showing signs of a drained battery on start-up and my lights are doing a weird dimming/flickering thing. It got me thinking, could it be something like severe self-discharge? Looking for some chat about similar issues, how you got it sorted, and about your latest mechanic experience. The last time I visited one, it wasn't the greatest. Any thoughts, stories, or advice would be just peachy! Thanks in advance.

Hey there, sounds like you're in a bit of a pickle with your Fiat Toro. I've got a '12 Fiat Doblo and had a similar issue not too long ago. Started with the lights flickering oddly and slowly progressed to starting issues. At first, I thought it might be the battery too, but turns out it was the control unit that was defective. The situation seemed serious as it was affecting my car's electronic system, but luckily it was a fixable issue. Spent a day at the garage - they replaced my control unit and tested it thoroughly to make sure it was properly communicating with the other parts of the vehicle. The mechanics were thorough and professional - nothing like my past experiences. If it is indeed the control unit, you don't have to worry too much. Just get it replaced and your car would be good as new. Always best to leave these things to the pros, ya know. But don't sweat it too much, these things happen.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I was getting somewhat anxious about it, but I'm feeling a bit better now. From what you've said, looks like I may be dealing with a defective control unit too. By the way, do you remember how much you shelled out for replacing the control unit in your Doblo? And have you encountered any more complications with it afterward? Here's hoping it's a one-and-done kind of scenario!-

Hey, glad my story could help ya stay a bit more cool-headed! I mean, no one likes dealing with car troubles, right? So, about the cost. If I recall right, the replacement and the whole song and dance around it set me back about 600 Euro. Not exactly pocket change, but considering the peace of mind I got after getting it sorted, it was worth every cent. Now, the good news - once the old bugger of a control unit got replaced on my Doblo, things started running smooth again. Battery discharge problem due to self-discharge? Gone. As if it never happened. So, no more complications post-repair. So yeah, looks like it's pretty much a one-and-done kind of deal, at least for me. Just remember the key thing is to get it checked out professionally. And hey, with any luck, you’ll hit the same sweet deal I did – problem solved, with no repeats! Good luck!

Wow, cheers! Racking up 600 Euro is a bit steep, but if it saves my Fiat from further trouble, it indeed sounds like money well-spent. I appreciate your insight about it potentially being a one-time fix. That sure lifts a weight off my shoulders! Gotta say, it's comforting to hear about your positive mechanic experience too. I'll find a professional who knows their stuff and hopefully, I'll get to tell a similar tale soon. Thanks again for sharing your Doblo experience. It straightened out a lot for me. Catch you around!
