Hey thanks for that! Getting some deja vu here – my '04 Stilo is throwing similar tantrums. My gut was pointing towards the brakes, but your experience with the DSC/ABS control unit has got me thinking now. Just curious can you recall how much it cost you to get yours sorted out? And since you saw it to the end, did you stumble upon any other hidden nightmares or has the Fiat been treating you good since then? Cheers.
Hey, glad I could be of some help! As for my Fiat, the DSC/ABS unit replacement came to around 1000€—a bit steep, but totally worth it considering the safety bit. After getting that fixed, she's been smooth as silk, really. And remember that thing I mentioned about the brakes? Figured out it wasn't an issue at all. Saw it through right after the control unit was fixed. So no more hidden gremlins for me, touch wood. You should totally get your car checked out soon! It's a pain, but better safe than sorry, right? Cheers!
Yo, thanks for the heads up! The damage on the wallet does seem a bit on the heavier side, but you're bang on about safety being the priority. I'm super glad to hear your Punto's been giving you a smooth ride since. I was slightly on edge about the whole brake situation, but hearing from you has put my mind somewhat at ease. Planning to high-tail it to the garage at the first opening now! Thanks again for sharing your experience; it's been super helpful. Ride on! Cheers!
Hey there, I totally get your dilemma, sporadic warning lights can be a pain! I've got an '01 Fiat Punto, ran into a similar issue about a year or so back. My mechanic looked it through and the issue turned out to be with the DSC/ABS control unit, not the brakes. It's a rare defect, but it does come up now and then. It wasn't exactly a joyride to get it fixed, had to leave my car at the garage for a few days so they could diagnose and sort it properly. It seems like a serious issue because of the warning lights and such, but honestly, with competent mechanics on the job, it's not much of a big deal. Just ensure you get a seasoned hand to look at it and you should be good to go. Cheers!
