Hey again! Sounds like you're taking good care of your Multipla, kudos for that. Given your mileage and the symptoms you described, I have a thought. When I had these problems with my Punto, besides the defective plug, my mechanic also found issues with the ignition coil and fuel injectors. These could all contribute to the symptoms you're experiencing, like unsteady engine, stalling, or the check engine light coming on. These parts are essential for keeping your engine running smoothly, and they control the correct mixture of air and fuel which could explain the black smoke and foul exhaust smell you're facing. Getting the ignition coil and injectors inspected might not be a bad idea. When I had these done, it set me back another 200€ or so. I know it's not pocket change, but it's worth keeping in mind considering it might save you from more serious issues. To repeat my first advice, take it to a professional and have them do a thorough check. Overall, it really depends on the diagnostic results you get from your garage. P.S. If you're seeing a lot of black smoke, it's better to avoid driving too much until you've had this checked out, it could indicate a serious issue and you don't want to risk doing more damage to the engine! Hope this helps, and keep us updated!
Hey, thanks! Your advice is golden and eases my mind a bit. I'll definitely get the ignition coil and fuel injectors checked out. Yeah, you’re right, good to shell out some now rather than face a bigger headache later. I'll stay off the black smoke mobile and take it to the workshop soonest. Thanks again for your helpful insight. I'll keep you guys posted about how it pans out. Peace!
Hey there! I’m not a car guru but I do have some experience. I had a similar issue with my 2008 Fiat Punto. Events played out pretty much as you described. I took it to my local workshop for troubleshooting. After all said and done, I found out that the cable/plug was defective. The mechanic got it replaced and I think I remember paying around 95€ which wasn't as heavy on the pocket as I thought it'd be. Before I can say more though, could you give some more specific info on your car? Like the model, mileage etc. It might help me, or others here, give you some more detailed advice.
