Hey! It's so reassuring to hear from someone who has faced a similar issue. I was beginning to feel singled out by the Fiat Gods! Thanks for the advice, I am definitely going to check the wires and ditch the idea that it's a Hall sensor issue. Out of curiosity, do you remember how much that cable swap set you back? Also, after that fix, did you ever come across any similar issues with your Punto or did it run smoothly from then? Thanks again for your insight, it's very helpful. Cheers!
Howdy! Ah, the age-old wallet drainer. Fortunately, the cable swap didn't leave me eating ramen for weeks. It cost me around 95€. And voila! That sorted out the defect in the Hall sensor on the tailgate. I have to say, it was money well spent to get rid of those pesky warning lights! Ever since then, my Punto's been purring like a kitten, no similar issues again. It's been running impressively smooth. Seems our Italian beauties need a bit of extra care and occasional fuss over, but they bounce back wonderfully when looked after. Hang in there! Your Linea will come around. Cheers!
Great stuff, I'm feeling more optimistic now about getting on top of this issue. The cost isn't too outrageous, and it sounds like getting the cables checked out may be just what's needed. Thanks for sharing about your Punto and I’m hoping my Linea will bounce back soon. Here's to the smoother ride ahead without the irksome warning lights. I appreciate your help cheers!
Hey there! I don't blame you for being a bit edgy, having a less than stellar previous experience with mechanics. When a similar issue popped up on my '06 Fiat Grande Punto, it did turn out to be a defective cable, not the Hall sensor. Like in your situation, my trunk would not open automatically and the absurd warning lights were a constant bane on my speedo. It wasn't an end-of-world sort of issue, but yeah, you could say it was sort of serious. Mainly because driving around with a faulty tailgate and those distracting warning lights can be both annoying and unsafe. Luckily, getting it fixed wasn’t a herculean task. They swapped out the defective cable to rectify the problems. All things considered, it wouldn't hurt to have the wiring checked out. Any competent mechanic should be able to diagnose it. I understand it's not easy to deal with repetitive car issues. Stay strong and good luck!
