Hey! You're welcome, always glad to help a fellow Fiat driver in need. As for the cost, fixing the windshield heating element did make a bit of a dent in my wallet. I had to shell out a solid 585€ for it. Since you're worried about potential other issues, I can tell you this. After the repair, no other problems arose relating to this, so that was a relief. The issue with the functional limitation of the windscreen heating was sorted out well by my mechanic. So, don’t worry too much, it’s totally manageable and hopefully, you get the same outcome. Just remember, it's not a simple DIY job. Leave it to the pros they know what they’re doing. Heat up that windscreen for those frosty mornings! Let me know if you need more advice. Good luck and keep me posted!
You're a lifesaver! That was exactly the kind of first-hand experience info I was looking for. Sounds like it’s better to cough up the cash and get it done by the pros rather than getting my hands dirty and risk messing up. After all, no one wants to start their day scraping frost off their windshield, right? Thanks for sharing your experience and the costs associated. I appreciate your help. Cheers and happy driving!
Hey, I get your frustration. I drive a 2015 Fiat 500X, and had a similar issue not too long ago. It turned out to be a problem with the windshield heating element. It's no small issue in the winter, I tell you that! The folks at the garage were pretty good. They did a thorough diagnosis to make sure they weren't replacing parts for no reason. Turns out, the windshield heating element was indeed defective and it had to be replaced directly. Yes, it didn’t cause an engine damage or an electrical failure but it’s pretty inconvenient. Especially on those frosty mornings, we all know how that goes. The repair itself was fairly straightforward at the garage, but required a lot of work, including removing the windshield to gain access to the heating element. Not a DIY unless you really know what you're doing. Hope that helps and good luck with your Freemont!
