Fiat Fiorino Engine Issues: Black Smoke, Reduced Power and Increased Fuel Consumption

The culprit in my case turned out to be a defective spark plug cable. The mechanic found it had gone bad and it was messing with my fuel mix as well, causing the unsteady engine behavior and bizarre fuel consumption. Also, the black smoke and the unusual odor were due to the same issue. Owing to this cable/plug failure, the engine's power was reduced, and it was cutting out unexpectedly too. In addition, a faulty plug cable can cause your engine light to come on, and even create stuttering issues during acceleration. So, the mechanic replaced the faulty spark plug cable and things have been smooth ever since. Not to worry much though.
