Fiat Fiorino 2010's A/C System Not Working: Possible Air Con Control Valve Issue

Hi all, got a 2010 Fiat Fiorino, gasoline engine, clocked up around 164k kilometers. Been having a bit of a mare with the air con recently - it's blowing warm and seemingly won't get cool or hot enough, and even the whole A/C system doesn't seem to kick in at times. I reckon it might be a faulty air con control valve, any of you ever experienced that before on similar-aged cars? Would appreciate any advice, especially since my last mechanic visit wasn't exactly sunshine and rainbows. Thanks, guys!

Hey, I had a similar issue with my 2012 Fiat Doblo a while back. The A/C was blowing warm and wouldn't cool or heat up enough, kind of like your situation. Turns out there was a leakage in the air conditioning system. The refrigerant was leaking due to a loose seal. So it's not necessarily the control valve - could be, but not always. For me, the leak was small but seriously tricky to locate. Lazy mechanics might miss it. They had to inspect the A/C seals and connections thoroughly before finding it. It was a rather serious issue as it was causing some inefficiency in the whole HVAC system, with similar issues you mentioned - sometimes, the A/C didn't kick in at all. But once they found and fixed the leak, everything was back to normal. So, might be worth asking your mechanic to do a proper check for a refrigerant leak. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for chipping in. A refrigerant leak, huh? That sure sounds like a nasty hurdle. Based on your experience with your Doblo, if it's a leak like you said, do you recall by any chance how bad the damage to your wallet was? And since getting it fixed, have you noticed any other A/C related issues next to it? Always good to know what I might be getting myself into. Thanks for the heads up!

Hey, yeah, you betcha - I still have vivid memories of that wallet hit! It was a solid 495€ to get the air conditioning leak sorted. It definitely went beyond my little coffee jar savings, I tell you. But on the bright side, since getting that pesky leak and the air conditioning control valve fixed, the A/C’s been colder than my ex's heart. So yeah, no other A/C related issues since that repair. It was a bit pricey but a worthy investment. Hang in there!

Whoa, 495€? That's quite a wallop, but your response also has some hilarious silver linings that made me laugh. Your advice is really valuable, and the part about your A/C being colder than your ex's heart, well, that's got me hopeful that this investment could pay off. I appreciate your detailed response, dude. I'm mentally prepared for a refrigerant leak hunt now. Let’s hope it's a one-off repair like it was for you. Thanks again!
