Fiat Cronos 2021 Owner Seeks Advice on Wiper and Headlight Cleaning System Issues

Headlight cleaning system without function

Wipers don't work properly

Hey everyone, I'm driving a 2021 Fiat Cronos, Gasoline, clocked up 107,220 km so far. Been dealing with some weird car issues lately – wipers acting up and headlight cleaning system's gone on a strike. I suspect it might be a problem with the windshield wiper switch but not sure. Last time I went to the mechanic, it wasn't a good experience, I'm a bit wary now. Anyone faced similar problems and might have any advice? How did your mechanic handle it? Thanks in advance!

Hey, seeing your symptoms, it reminded me of a similar issue I had with my 2018 Fiat Tipo. Odd stuff happening, wipers had a mind of their own and, the headlights were throwing tantrums. It turned out to be a problem with the steering column switch cable connection. It's a bit of a pain, I won't lie. The whole shebang was a result of some wear and tear, affected a couple of systems, not just the wipers and lights. Because it's all connected to your car's electrical system, right? Anyway, my bloke (my mechanic, I mean) first did some basic checks to ensure it wasn't a fuse but eventually found that the cable connection had become defective. It required a bit of effort but we got it sorted. The takeaway? If you think it's the windshield wiper switch, might be a bit more complicated than that. You definitely need an expert to have a look at that steering column. Just be sure to get a reputable guy, yeah? Don't want any problems this time. Hope this helps!

Hey! Your situation sounds eerily familiar, it's like déjà vu. I was veering towards the windshield wiper switch issue, but your note on the steering column switch cable connection hit me for a six! Never even thought about the larger electrical system. Glad you managed to sort it out, though. I'm definitely going to tread with caution and dig a bit deeper into this. Got any recollection of how much you had to fork out to fix this whole thing up? Also, has any other troubling issue cropped up since then? Cheers for the insight, appreciate it!

Hey, yep, it sure threw me for a loop too. Trust me, you don't want this becoming a routine bug. About the cost, it set me back around 155€ to get that pesky steering column switch cable connection back on track. It wasn't pocket change, but it’s cheaper than letting it mess up the whole system or entirely replacing parts. And about that windshield wiper switch we were talking about, it turned out to be part of the puzzle too. But since I had the mechanic look at it, it stopped doing its little dance. No more unusual wiper parties since then! So apart from that bout, my Fiat has been running smooth. No extra shenanigans to report. Hope this helps you dodge a bullet. Best of luck with your treatment and make sure to go for a mechanic who knows his stuff, yeah? Cheers!

Hey there, You just saved me from numerous potential traps! I was having a moment of every cloud has a silver lining and you just walked in as that silver lining. I reckon I'll brace for that 155€ blow then. It’s lesser than I’d initially feared, given the masterclass these car systems tend to host. Glad your wiper switch is acting all professional now, and even happier that you didn't have to face more car gremlins. A smooth running car is just an unexpressed blessing! I'm bookmarking your notes, will definitely discuss the cable connection possibility with the mechanic. Have to find a reliable one first, though. Thanks a heap for the valuable advice, truly appreciate it! Guess it's time for me to dive into some mechanic hunt now. Wish me luck, I'll need it! Cheers.
