Hi guys, I have a problem with my 2006 Peugeot 206 Diesel. The check engine light stays on, the warning light in the speedometer keeps showing something and my car has a fault stored. I think it could be that the fuel filler flap release is faulty. Do any of you have experience with symptoms like this and can give me some troubleshooting tips? I am particularly interested in how you solved the problem in the workshop. Thank you in advance!

Hello, I had a similar problem with my 2008 Peugeot 208. I'm not a master mechanic, but I know my way around a bit. At my garage, it turned out that the linkage was defective. It cost me 210 euros. It could be similar in your case. What errors does the on-board computer show exactly? Perhaps I can then help you in more detail.

Hey, thanks for your answer! So the on-board computer shows the error "P0420 - Catalytic converter efficiency below limit value". Incidentally, my Peugoet has around 86719 KM on it and had its last service a few months ago. Do you have any idea what this could be? Your assessment would be very helpful!

Hey, no problem! Error code P0420 indicates that your catalytic converter is probably no longer working efficiently. This can have various causes, e.g. a defective lambda sensor. However, it could also be a symptom of a deeper problem, such as a fuel-air mixture that is too lean or too rich. As this can be a complex problem and can seriously damage your engine, my recommendation would be to take your car to a garage soon. Incidentally, my Peugeot had similar problems after about 90,000 KM. Let us know how it goes for you. All the best!

Hi, thanks for the helpful information! I didn't realize there were so many possibilities as to what could be causing this fault. I will take your advice and get my Peugeot into the garage as soon as possible. The last thing I need is major damage to my engine. Hopefully I'll be lucky enough that it's just the lambda sensor. I'll keep you posted and thanks again for your advice. Take care of yourself!
