ABS/DSC system is not working

Hi guys, I have a problem with my 2007 Opel Tigra (144631 km, gasoline engine). There are a few worrying symptoms: The ABS/DSC system no longer works properly, the warning light in the speedometer is constantly flashing, and the brake pedal barely responds. The brakes feel spongy and do not respond well. The ABS symbol is also illuminated. I suspect that the pressure sensor on the brake booster has a signal error. Have any of you ever experienced something similar? What should I look out for during the repair? I didn't have a good feeling on my last visit to the workshop and would like to be better prepared. I look forward to your tips! Thanks in advance!

Hello, your symptoms sound very similar to what I once experienced with my 2004 Opel Astra. In my case, the brake system was bled incorrectly and caused similar problems. The ABS/DSC flashed and the brakes became spongy. They checked my brake master cylinder and the brake pedal. To get it done, the brake system had to be completely bled and refilled as needed. Something to consider when doing the repair: make sure they check the entire brake system circuit. It's a pretty serious issue as it directly affects braking performance and safety. And that's exactly what they did at my garage. Unfortunately, this type of problem is to be expected, especially on cars with similar mileage to yours. For an accurate diagnosis, I recommend you see a trusted mechanic. Good luck, buddy!

Hi, thanks for your helpful advice! It's funny how similar your experience is to mine. Now I feel a bit better informed. Do you remember how much you paid for the repair? Did that just include checking the brake master cylinder and brake pedal and bleeding and refilling the brake system? Or were there any other problems that arose in this connection that you had to take into account? Thanks in advance and best regards!

Hi, I'm glad I could help you! Your problem sounds really similar to the one I had. After my visit to the mechanic, the signal error in the pressure sensor on the brake booster was rectified. Yes, the repair cost was €90. This included checking and bleeding the brake system. Everything else remained the same for me. I didn't notice any further problems after that. So, I'll keep my fingers crossed that it goes the same for you and that you don't experience any more surprises! Greetings back!

Hi, great, thank you! That's very helpful. It's always good to know what to expect. Glad to hear everything went well for you and no further problems have arisen. 90 sounds acceptable if it gets my car back in order. I'll contact my mechanic tomorrow and point out the issues you mentioned. Thanks again and have a nice day! Greetings!
