Experiencing Tank Vent Valve Issues with a 2010 Kia Cadenza

Check engine light on

Stalling while idling

Unsteady engine

Jerking on acceleration

Loss of engine power

Shaking while idling

Hey guys, I'm a bit stressed with my 2010 Kia Cadenza here, runs on petrol and clocked about 101,407 KM. My car's acting weird lately - faulty engine light, decreased engine power, shoddy engine, jerking when I speed up, stalling and shaking during idle states. Strikes me as a potential Tank vent valve issue. Anyone else ever had these issues? Can you share how it went at your mechanic's? My last experience was a bit gnarly so any advice would be great. Cheers!

Hey! Sorry to hear about your troubles, quite pesky, isn't it? I've got a 2012 Kia Optima and I was getting similar vibes from it not too long ago. Turned out, the issue was with some Hoses - all knackered and not doing their jobs right. Made it to the garage and the lads had a look. They ended up replacing the faulty ones and also did some minor tinkering here and there to make sure the problem's out for good. After the work, it was smooth sailing - idle became normal, engine power was back on track, and that annoying jerking while speeding up, all fixed. So can't help but imagine maybe your issue could be more hose-related than the Tank vent valve thing. But then again, I ain't no mechanic! But hey, don't stress too much. Once the problem's identified, it's usually pretty straightforward to sort out. Best of luck with your Cadenza!

Hey there, really sorry you've been having such a hassle with your Cadenza! I think I had a similar problem with my 2010 Kia a while back concerning my engine and stuff. But it sounds like you might be onto something with suspecting the Tank vent valve. A quick question though, when you had those hoses fixed on your Optima do you remember about how much you shelled out for it? And since the repair, has anything else popped up that's giving you grief? I'm kinda anxious that once I start, the repairs'll just keep piling up. Cheers for the info!

Hey there! Yeah, I totally get where you're coming from - getting started with car repairs can feel like opening a can of worms sometimes, am I right? About those hoses on my Optima, they slapped me with a 175€ bill for them. A bit of a sting, but gotta admit, the sacred silence of not hearing any weird noises afterward was worth it! Now onto your question, since the repair, there haven't been any additional issues that have had me banging my head against the steering wheel. In fact, I went back to the same garage just recently for that Tank vent valve issue you mentioned. Yeesh, you hit the nail right on the head with that one! Thankfully, they sorted it out, so my Optima's finally back to its old self, running smoother than a fresh jar of Nutella! Hang in there it sounds like a pain, but once it's done your Cadenza will be good as new. Good luck!

Smashing info that put things into perspective! The cost isn't as fearsome as I thought, just a bit of a pinch in the pocket for the hose job, yeah? Good to know your Optima is behaving after the work! Gives me hope for my girl Cadenza here. Gotcha, no more panic then - just gotta brace meself for whatever else she's hiding, eh? Might just drop by my local garage and let them have at it. Thanks heaps for the advice guys! I will brace myself for the Nutella-smooth ride afterwards, haha! Cheers!
