Hey there, quite the story with your Sonata! This ECU thing sounds eerily similar to what's happening with my Aslan. Out of curiosity, do you happen to recall how much that little adventure with the ECU replacement and reprogramming set you back? Also, since getting it fixed, have you noticed any other unusual behaviors or was that the end of it really? Thanks again!
Hey, yep, the experience with my Sonata was quite the trip! Regarding your question about the cost, the ECU replacement wasn't that easy on the wallet, it set me back €240. Still, I reckon it's a small price to pay to keep the ol' girl running smoothly, right? And to answer your other question, since the mechanic got it sorted and the ECU was programmed back to the car, the issues disappeared and she's been running like a dream ever since. No more weird flickering lights or any other surprises. So it sounds like tackling the ECU might be the way to go for your Aslan. Hope that clears things up! Best of luck!
Hey! I really appreciate this insight! I definitely wasn't expecting an ECU issue, but it makes sense given everything you've shared about your Sonata. The price tag does sting a bit, but as you said, it's better to have the car running smoothly. I'll make an appointment with my mechanic and see if they suggest the same thing. Thanks a million for taking the time to share all this. Fingers crossed my Aslan will be back in top shape soon. Cheers!
Hey! I completely get your situation. I had a somewhat similar trouble with my 2014 Hyundai Sonata. Same kind of weird behaviors, lights dimming and all that jazz. Turns out, my issue had to do with the Engine Control Unit (ECU). I had it replaced but the real kicker was, they forgot to program it to the vehicle. Rookie mistake, but lesson learned, always double-check what your mechanic did. You might want to investigate that angle because your symptoms sound fairly close to what I went through. And yes, it was a pretty serious issue, but once they rectified the problem by properly programming the ECU to the car, things were smooth sailing again. Hope this helps out, best of luck with your Aslan!
