Experiences Sought: 2019 Hyundai Eon Oil Pressure Control Issues & Metal Shavings in Oil

Metal shavings in oil

Hey! I've been having some issues with my 2019 Hyundai Eon with a gasoline engine (mileage stands at 26631 KM). Recently, the oil light got switched on, I spotted some metal shavings in the oil and even the warning light on the speedometer lit up. I suspect it might be an engine oil pressure control issue. Have any of you experienced this before? If so, what was your experience at the mechanic's? My last visit was less of a mechanic's dream come true, so I'm a bit on edge this time. Looking forward to hearing your experiences and advice. Thanks a ton!

Hey! So yeah, a couple years back, I had similar symptoms on my 2016 Hyundai Accent. The whole warning light show with the oil pressure was a deja vu for me as I read your post. Turns out, in my case, the cable harness on the oil pressure control valve was oily and defective. You see, just a small oil leak can positively ruin that harness due to its location. It's usually tucked away in a tough spot and the exposure to oil just degrades its effectiveness over time. Metal shavings in the oil could possibly point to some internal wear and tear. It was quite a serious issue in my case as it impacted engine performance significantly. I mean, leaving it unaddressed could have led to serious complications down the line - like knocking my engine out for the count. To fix, my mechanic sorted out the harness and checked the oil pressure control valve thoroughly. It's key not to delay because getting to it early can help you prevent potential engine damage. I know it's a bit scary when the warning lights start to flicker, but don't stress out too much. It's good you noticed and are getting it checked out. Take care and let us know how you go with your mechanic's visit!

Hey there, Thanks for sharing your experience - doesn't sound fun at all! It's interesting, and scary, how a small issue like an oily cable harness can lead to such major complications. I'll definitely mention this to my mechanic. By the way, do you recall about how much you had to part with for the repairs? And since the fix, have you noticed any other related issues cropping up? Just trying to get an idea of what might be in store for me! I appreciate the advice and will keep you updated. Cheers.

Hey there, Sure thing, it's a bit of a rough ride when your car starts acting up, isn't it? To answer your question, the repair bill to fix the oily and faulty cable harness on the oil pressure control valve set me back 350 Euro. Not exactly a drop in the bucket, but it was worth it considering the possible alternative - a busted engine! Since the repair, I've kept a close eye on things and I'm glad to report that the engine oil pressure control hasn't troubled me anymore. All the warning lights stayed off and my Hyundai has been purring like a kitten ever since. So yeah, it's not the most cheerful of expenditures, but fixing it early has definitely saved me a lot of potential heartache (and walletache!) in the long run. Hope everything goes smooth for you too at the mechanic's. Keep us posted! Catch you later.

Hello! The figures you've mentioned definitely made me gulp a little, but I guess it's worth paying to avoid a full-on engine failure. It's good to hear your Hyundai has been running smoothly post-repair – gives me a spot of optimism. I have an appointment at the garage tomorrow. I'll make sure to mention the faulty cable harness on the oil pressure control valve so they know what to look out for. Once again, thanks for sharing your experience and giving your valuable advice. Fingers crossed I'll be driving around without any warning lights glaring at me soon! Take care and you'll hear from me after the showdown at the mechanic's. Laters!
