Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful since our issues sound identical. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you end up paying for the fix? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the repair, or have you noticed any other issues pop up? Just want to know what to expect if I go down the same route.
Hey again! Happy to help out with more details. Yeah, I just got the car back from the mechanic last week actually I was right about the intake air temp sensor being the culprit. The total bill came to 155€, which included the diagnostic check, the new sensor, and labor. Pretty straightforward fix, thankfully! Since the repair, it's been running like a dream seriously, it's like having a different car! No more jerky acceleration, the engine's smooth as silk, and I'm not bleeding money on fuel anymore. The faulty sensor signal that was causing all the drama is completely gone. Haven't had a single problem since. Just a heads up if you decide to get it fixed, make sure they do that diagnostic scan first like I mentioned before. Better to be 100% sure before throwing parts at it, you know? But based on what you're describing, I'd bet good money you're dealing with the same issue I had. Keep us posted on how it goes if you get it checked out! Always good to share experiences for other Infiniti owners who might run into the same problem.
Thanks so much for all the details! I actually just got back from the mechanic today, and what a relief! Found a specialized shop through a 's recommendation, and they were spot on. Turned out it was definitely the intake air temp sensor they ran the diagnostic test first (smart move, thanks for that tip!). Bill came to about 170€, bit more than yours but still reasonable. The mechanic was great, showed me the old sensor and explained everything. The difference is incredible car's running smooth again, no more jerking, and I can already tell the fuel consumption is better. Such a weight off my shoulders, especially since I was worried it might be something major. Really appreciate everyone's help here, especially sharing your similar experience. It made me feel a lot more confident about what needed to be done. Definitely keeping this mechanic's number for future reference! Thanks again, guys!
I had similar issues with my 2010 Infiniti FX35 last summer. The symptoms were exactly like yours rough idle, poor acceleration, and terrible fuel economy. My check engine light was also on. Turned out it was indeed the intake air temperature sensor. Got it fixed at my local Infiniti specialist. It wasn't a major repair basically just needed the sensor replaced and the system recalibrated. The whole thing took about an hour. Since then, the car's been running smooth, and my fuel economy is back to normal. If you're in the same boat, I'd suggest finding a reputable Infiniti specialist rather than a general mechanic. They'll know exactly what to look for and how to properly diagnose the issue. It's definitely not a serious problem, but it needs to be addressed to prevent any potential long-term engine damage. Just make sure they do a proper diagnostic scan first to confirm it's the IAT sensor before replacing any parts.
