Error with tire pressure sensor on Mini Cooper 2017 - experiences and solutions

Dear community, I have a problem with my 2017 Mini Cooper. Somehow it keeps telling me that the tire pressure is too low. I suspect that maybe the tire pressure sensor is going crazy. Have any of you ever had a similar problem and can give me some tips? I'm particularly interested in your experiences with the garage. How did they solve the problem? Many thanks in advance for your help!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2015 BMW 1 series. I would say I have a little experience with cars, but I'm not a professional. I took the car to my regular garage and after a diagnosis, they found that the control unit for the tire pressure monitoring system was faulty. It cost me 355 euros to get it fixed, a bit pricey, but it's been working fine ever since. So, it could be that your problem is similar. Could you please give me more details about your Mini Cooper? Maybe I can help you then.

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! So it's a Mini Cooper, petrol engine, year of manufacture 2017, current mileage is 46523 km, the last service was recently. Your tip that it could be the control unit for the tire pressure monitoring system sounds plausible. I'll see if I can have it checked at my regular garage. Hopefully it won't be too expensive... 355 euros is quite a lot. Thanks again!

Hey, no problem at all! It sounds like your Mini Cooper is still relatively new. I really hope it's nothing serious. Definitely visit your garage and have the control unit for the tire pressure monitoring system checked if the problem persists. Another possibility could be that the sensor in a tire is faulty, which would be cheaper to repair. Make sure that the garage also checks the tires and sensors for damage. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't break your wallet! Let me know how it goes. I'm looking forward to it!

Hey, thanks for the encouragement and great advice! I will follow your suggestion and have both the ECU and the sensors checked at the garage. Hopefully I can find an inexpensive solution. I will definitely post in here how it went. Thanks again and have a nice day!

Hi there! I've faced the same issue with my 2017 Mini Cooper. It turned out to be a faulty tire pressure sensor. My garage was able to replace it quickly and then the problem was solved. I'd recommend getting it checked by a professional mechanic. Good luck!
