Error with alarm system and battery when starting a 2016 BMW 2 Series Diesel

Good afternoon, everyone! I have a problem with my 2016 BMW 2 series diesel, which has been behaving differently recently. The alarm system is going crazy and the battery is weakening when starting. I suspect it could be related to the alarm system. Have any of you ever had similar problems and had this fixed at the garage? Would like to know your experiences and solutions. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I once had a similar problem with my 2014 BMW 1 series diesel. I'm not a car mechanic, but I do have some experience with cars. My alarm system was also acting up and the battery was acting up. I took the car to my garage and in the end it turned out that the basic module was faulty. The repair cost me around 465 euros. You could have similar reasons. Can you give us more details about your vehicle? The more information we have, the better we can help you.

Hello, thank you for your reply and advice. My car has 315129km on the clock so far and the last service was very recent. I'm not sure if more details would be helpful, but your comment about the basic module makes sense. I think I will take this up with my BMW dealer. 465 euros sounds expensive, but safety first and I don't want the alarm system to keep bugging. Thanks again for your help!

Hey, no problem, always welcome! Yes, given the number of kilometers and the model, it's quite possible that the basic module is giving up the ghost. Maybe that really is the problem. A good BMW dealer should definitely be able to check this. Safety really is the most important thing, and believe me, being woken up by the alarm in the middle of the night is no fun. Keep your fingers crossed that it won't be too expensive.

Hi, I have the same problem with my 2015 BMW 3 Series. Was the base module also defective or did it have another fault?

My car only starts with startpilot is it a flowmeter problem or a diesel inlet problem?

It could be either, but it's best to start with the easiest check first. Try replacing the fuel filter as a clogged filter can cause starting issues. If the problem persists, it might be a problem with the flowmeter or the diesel inlet. However, starting a car with startpilot regularly is not recommended as it can cause damage to the engine. It would be best to have a mechanic check your car to avoid further damage. Do you have any further questions?

It sounds like you might have a parasitic drain issue. This happens when something in your car stays on after the key is off and drains your battery. The radio and screen not turning off could be the cause. I would recommend checking the radio and screen wiring for any faults. If you're not comfortable doing this yourself, it would be best to have a mechanic look at it. Please keep us updated on your progress.
