Hi, Wow, thanks for the quick and thorough reply! It's good (but also kind of unfortunate) to know someone else has experienced the same head-scratcher with their Volvo. Your case sounds incredibly similar to what I'm dealing with. Sounds like the converter lockup clutch could indeed be the demon here. I'll have to bite the bullet and get it checked out ASAP. Since they ended up replacing the entire converter in your XC90, any chance you remember how much that set you back? And, were there any additional related issues that cropped up after? Again, appreciate your help. Here's hoping my V60 can get back to purring smoothly soon!

Howdy, No worries at all, glad I could provide some insight. Now, about that pesky converter replacement on my XC90, it did lighten my pocket by €2120. Yeah, I know, quite a dent but that's the cost of peace on the road, I suppose! Since that fix though, haven't had a problem. The lockup clutch was the culprit and replacing it did the job just right. Thankfully, there were no additional issues at all. Frankly, the car's been running like a dream ever since, the transmission's smoother than ever. So, knock on wood, but it turned out to be a solid fix. Hope your V60's issue gets sorted just as efficiently! Keep me updated on how things go, and stay safe on the road!

Hello, Thanks for the follow-up. The cost does bite a bit, but considering the problem, it seems well worth it. Hearing about your positive outcome after the converter replacement sure makes it easier to take the decision. It's so much about the peace on the road like you said. I'm glad to know your XC90 has been doing well since the fix - here's hoping my V60 follows suit! I'll be sure to keep you posted with the updates. Thanks again for your help and safe travels to you too!

Hey there, I see you're in a bit of a bind with your Volvo V60. Sounds familiar, as I had a similar issue with my 2016 Volvo XC90 a while back. Like your V60, it was also plagued with erratic transmission slips and that unmistakable grinding noise while shifting gears. On top of that, it had that constant whining sound you mentioned. After taking it to the garage, the diagnosis was indeed a defective automatic transmission converter. It was the converter lockup clutch causing all the ruckus, just as you suspected for your car. Remember, this is a crucial part to ensure you have a comfy and smooth ride. So yeah, a bit of a serious problem that needed urgent attention. Had it repaired at my mechanic's to get rid of the sinister sounds. They had to replace the entire converter as the lockup clutch was beyond repair. Not sure if that's what's going on with your V60, but it could be worth checking if the symptoms are so similar. Hope this helps, and best of luck with your V60!
