Erratic engine, increased fuel consumption and 'Check Engine' indicator light on the 2019 Mercedes GLC Diesel

Unsteady engine

Engine shuts off by itself

Poor fuel economy

Jerking on acceleration

Check engine light on

Loss of engine power

Hi guys! I have a question about my 2019 Mercedes GLC Diesel, which now has around 138,998 km on it. The error message "Check Engine" lights up, the engine stops by itself and runs unevenly, jerks when accelerating and consumes too much fuel. My guess is that there are problems with the throttle valve. I had a bad experience with my old mechanic and would like to know if any of you have ever had similar symptoms and how they were resolved in the workshop? Thanks in advance for your tips and experiences!

Hey, so I had something similar happen with my 2016 Mercedes GLA Diesel. The accelerator pedal module was faulty. The engine was constantly cutting out and jerking like crazy when accelerating. The "check engine" light also came on from time to time. It turned out that the module was not communicating properly and had to be replaced. This was quite serious, as the full functionality of the car was limited. After the repair, however, everything ran like clockwork again. So if I were you, I would keep an eye on the accelerator pedal module.

Hi, thanks for the tip! It's really annoying how quickly something like this can happen. Do you happen to remember how much you had to pay for the repair? And have there been no more problems since then? Is your Mercedes now running smoothly again? Thank you!

Hey, sure, no problem! I paid € 205 for the repair of the accelerator pedal module back then. Since then, my Mercedes has been really easy to drive, no more hiccups. As for the throttle valve - you had good intuition there. That was also a mistake, but since the visit to the mechanic, it's no longer an issue. Hope that helps you for now!

Great, thanks for the detailed information! Easier said than done, but it's good to know that a visit to the garage can solve the problem. I'll probably tell my mechanic about your experience - €205 isn't cheap, but at least it's less than a new car. I hope that will solve my problems too. Thanks again for your help and I hope your Mercedes continues to run smoothly!
