Engine warning light and power fluctuations in Citroen DS3 Diesel 2019: experience and advice?

Loss of engine power

Unsteady engine

Check engine light on

Jerking on acceleration

Hey guys, I'm a bit worried about my 2019 Citroen DS3 diesel with around 106k kilometers on the clock. The "check engine" warning light is on, the engine power is fluctuating and the engine is running rough. It also jerks when accelerating. My assumption is that it has something to do with the functional restriction of the boost pressure control. Have you had similar experiences? What were your experiences at the mechanic? I'm really looking forward to your answers, as I'm totally unsettled by my last workshop. Thanks in advance!

Hey buddy, don't worry, I had the same thing with my 2016 Citroen DS4. It was really a problem with the wastegate valve actuator. The car drove very strangely and had the same symptoms as yours. They changed the valve and the actuator at the garage, after which it ran normally again. It's important that you don't leave it too long. It's not a superfatal defect, but it can put a strain on other parts of the engine in the long term. So take it to the garage and have it checked. So far that's been done and the car is running like new again. Hope that helps you!

Hey, thanks for the reply, really reassuring that you had a similar experience. Do you happen to remember how much the repair cost you? And have you had any further problems with the wastegate valve since then or has everything remained fine?

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for, right? So, it cost me €1820 to repair the wastegate valve. Since I got the car back from the mechanic, everything has been running smoothly again. Fortunately, the functional restriction of the boost pressure control has not occurred since then either. I haven't had any further problems since then and of course I hope it stays that way. Don't worry, just get it checked out. Keep us posted on how it goes!

Wow, thanks for the quick and detailed answer. 1820€ doesn't sound that great, but if it solves the problem once and for all, then it's worth the money. I'm going to make an appointment at my garage tomorrow and hope that they can fix it as quickly as you did. It's reassuring to hear that everything has been fine for you since then - I'll keep my fingers crossed that it will be the same for me. I'll definitely let you know as soon as I have any news. Thanks again!
