Engine problems with the VW Golf Diesel 2013: Check Engine light, loss of power and starting difficulties

Hi everyone, I have a small problem with my VW Golf Diesel 2013, almost 145395 km on it. My car is acting up: check engine light is constantly on, loss of power and sometimes it just won't start. I had a bad experience on my last visit to the garage, so I'd rather ask here first. Have any of you ever experienced similar symptoms, perhaps even in conjunction with pressure fluctuations on a cylinder? I would appreciate any help or experience reports before I go back into the hands of a workshop. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I absolutely feel you. I have a 2016 VW Passat diesel and have had similar symptoms to you. My car has constantly had some sort of performance issues and sometimes the check engine light has come on. At my last garage visit they found there were cylinder issues, even a fuel injector was blown. Lost compression was also an issue. So, it looks like we have similar issues. It was a serious problem, but after that my car was running smoothly again. I'd advise you not to hesitate and get it checked at a garage asap. Good luck buddy!

Hey, thanks for the quick and helpful reply. It seems we actually have the same problem. My old Golf and your Passat, ha! Do you remember how much it cost you at the garage? I'm a bit short of money at the moment and it would be good to know what to expect. And have you had any other problems since then or has your car been running smoothly ever since? Thank you very much!

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! Since the mechanic came and fixed the pressure fluctuation on one cylinder, my Passat has been running like a champ again. No further problems. However, the costs were also considerable. It cost me €335 just to fix the fault in the cable connection to the glow plug. So, that's quite a bit of money, but according to my calculations it's still cheaper than a new car, isn't it? I've had peace of mind since then. I hope this helps you and that your Golf is back in shape quickly!

Hey, great, thank you very much for this information! Of course, €335 is quite a lot of money, but if you look at it that way, it's still cheaper than a new car. It's good to know that your Passat is now running like a champ again, that's really encouraging. I'll have to bite the bullet and make an appointment at the garage. Thanks again for your help and have a good trip with your Passat!

Hello, I have a 2010 VW Passat CC, I've installed LED lights and now the dashboard indicates that the lights are blown. I would like to prevent the blown lights warning. I think it's done with coding but I'm not sure where exactly. Could you tell me where it's done?

Hello JesusTM, We cannot say if your car supports this right away, it totally depends on your car's software version. If need exact information, you can contact our support here. https://support.mycarly.com/hc/es/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000444960 Thank you.
