Hej, that sounds like a similar situation I experienced some time ago. The software update trick seems to be a pretty common procedure. I'm sure it sounds stupid, but I just have to ask: do you remember how expensive it was for you? And have you had any other problems since? I would be really interested. Thanks in advance for the info!

Hey, of course I can still remember that. So, fixing the wrong software values for the fuel pump cost me €45. And since I've been to the mechanic, the fuel pump defect has been fixed. Since then the car has been running like clockwork again, no more problems. Hope that helps you!

Wow, thanks for the information guys. Honestly, I wasn't thinking about a software problem at all. I assumed all along that I needed a whole new fuel pump. Checking the software values definitely sounds logical and seems like a good first step. Especially the cost of €45 sounds pretty damn reasonable when I consider how expensive a new fuel pump would be. You guys have really helped me gain valuable insight and I will definitely be looking for a better equipped authorized garage to have my car checked. Hopefully I will have the same luck as you and find a solution to my problem. Your help is really worth its weight in gold - thanks again!

Hey, I can help you with that. I recently had exactly the same problem with my 2015 VW Passat, also diesel and with pretty similar mileage. It was quite serious, as it turned out, because the wrong software values for the fuel pump were the culprit. I also suspected that it could be the fuel pump. The mechanic in the workshop first ran a diagnostic with the on-board diagnostic tool to check the error codes. He then carried out a software update for the control unit. This turned out to be the right step, as it solved the problems. The car then ran like clockwork again, no loss of engine power, no jerking and the most important thing: the check engine light stayed off. So sometimes it's not always a mechanical problem, but a software problem. Have it checked in a workshop, especially if the same error message appears. It's a serious thing that you shouldn't ignore. Hope this helps you, good luck with that!
