Hey, thanks for the tip! That sounds pretty similar to your Golf. Do you remember what you paid for the repair? Have you had any other problems since then, or is everything running smoothly so far? I'm glad to hear that we're both in the VW club, even if our little darlings have a few aches and pains in the meantime.

Hey, yes, that's what you say! Our older models can be a bit of a bitch. So after the workshop visit, everything was actually running smoothly again. They got the fault in the engine control unit under control. It cost €1000 to sort out the problems between the control units. Expensive fun, but the car has been running again ever since. So basically I'm satisfied and so far there have been no further problems. I hope it stays that way and that it won't be quite so expensive for you. Good luck, buddy!

Wow, that's really a mouthful. I've realized that I can't avoid a visit to the workshop, it can't go on like this. Thanks for your help and your honest opinion. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Hi! I'm experiencing engine problems and warning lights on my 2010 VW Golf petrol engine, which has 125,250 km. What steps should I take to address this issue? I'm concerned about potential causes and solutions, so any advice on troubleshooting the issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Start by checking the basics like oil level and coolant level. If these are fine, the next step would be to get the error codes read. Most auto parts stores will do this for free. The codes will give you a starting point for diagnosing the problem. If the issue is beyond your ability to fix, I would recommend taking it to a professional mechanic.

Hey buddy, I drive a 2011 VW Golf, and I recently had similar difficulties as you. The check engine light also gave me a headache and there were starting difficulties that almost drove me mad. In the end it was the engine control unit for me. Blocked fuel lines and excessive dirt in the engine compartment were also at play. It was definitely a serious problem, so better get it checked now before it gets worse. Seems like our VWs are getting on in years, don't they?
