Hey, thanks for the detailed answer! Your experience sounds really bad. My Peugeot 407 hasn't had problems like this before, but it's good to know that it could be the cable and not necessarily the pump. Can you remember what you paid for the repair? And have you had any similar problems or other surprises with the car since then? I certainly hope I'm spared that, but would like to be able to prepare for anything. Hope your Peugeot continues to run well!

Hey, you're welcome! Fortunately, I haven't had any similar problems since the repair. After the mechanic replaced the faulty cable, the coolant pump is running perfectly again and the car is now running like clockwork again. The cost of the repair?! Well, to be honest, it's always a bit of a pain when the bill arrives, but it was €220 that I had to put down to fix the cable problem on the pump/control unit. It's not a huge amount, but I'd rather pay that than risk engine damage, right? I hope you come out of it all right. Keep us posted on how things go with your Peugeot. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for the info! 220 is a lot of money, but as you said, it's better to pay that than risk engine damage. I'm very glad to hear that everything has been running smoothly since the repair. That gives me some hope. I will be taking my Peugeot 407 to the garage next week and hopefully the problem will be fixed quickly. I will definitely keep you posted! Thanks again and have a safe journey!

Hey, I read your post. I had a similar problem with my 2011 Peugeot 407 diesel. The coolant pump was also suspect for me, but turned out to be the cable on the pump/control unit that was faulty. I was quite surprised as I originally thought the problem was with the pump. A visit to the mechanic was necessary. The fault could not be overlooked, the car drove erratically and the check engine light just wouldn't go out. I then switched the ignition off and on again, without success. Finally had to go to the workshop. It was then determined that the damaged cable was the main problem, the pump was fine. Thank goodness it was a repair that had nothing to do with the engine directly, but it was still serious enough. The car is now running perfectly again, fortunately I was able to identify the whole situation in time and fix it. The coolant pump is an important component of the engine's cooling system. If it's not working properly, it can cause serious engine damage. Hope this helps you, have a good trip!
