Emergency Call System Issues in 2017 Volvo V40

Emergency system without function

Hey folks, I drive a 2017 Volvo V40, Gas engine, with about 68k KM on it. I'm noticing something funky with the emergency system, it just doesn't seem functional. I'm guessing it's an issue with the emergency call system itself. After a sour experience with a mechanic last time, I ain't eager to go blind into another one. Have any of you had a similar issue? What did your mechanic say or do about this? Cheers!

Hey, I feel ya. Had a similar problem with my 2014 Volvo S60. The speaker was acting all wonky, not unlike your emergency system issues, and it turned out to be a wiring muddle. Wasn't too serious, but needed a pro to sort it out at the garage. To troubleshoot, they first tested the speaker itself, just to make sure. In the end, it was a bit of a wire-fiddling operation. I'm no mechanic, but the whole process seemed pretty straightforward, no major surgery on the car. Seems like tech issues are shared across the models, eh? Reckon you might be looking at a similar situation with your V40. Maybe it's a wire issue, maybe not. But sure as heck, it's better to have it checked out. If it's your emergency call system, you want that working tip-top. Hope this helps! Drive safe.

Hey there! That definitely eases my anxiety a bit. I was fearing it may be an expensive or complicated issue, but the wiring thing sounds like a potentially simpler fix. I started doubting my Volvo's reliability but sometimes forget these tech issues can pop up in any model, huh? Just curious, do you remember about how much you had to shell out for that wire-fiddling job on your S60? Also, have any other related problems cropped up since then or has it been smooth cruising? Appreciate your thoughts and tips!

Hey, glad to hear my experience could put your mind at ease a bit! Yup, cars can be quirky, even the reliable Volvos. As for the cost, it set me back by about 305€ to fix the dodgy speaker. Not exactly peanuts, but I reckon it's a worthwhile investment to make sure everything's working right, especially when it comes to safety components. And hey, good news - ever since the trip to the mechanic, it's been smooth sailing! No problems or bleeps from the emergency call system or the like. Seems the wiring tweak did the trick. I hope your story turns out the same. Best of luck with your V40 - make sure to keep us posted! Safe driving!

Hey dude, thanks a ton for sharing! Your insight is really helping me head to the mechanic with a clearer mind and possibly save my pocket from more serious damages. 305€ doesn't sound too bad considering it's for the safety component - y'know, better be safe than sorry. Glad to hear your ride's been treating you well post-repairs. I'm optimistic that my story would follow suit. I'll definitely keep everyone in the loop about how my V40 fares after the trip to the mechanic. Fingers crossed there won't be any nasty surprises! Safe driving to you too! Cheers!
