Electronics problems with Toyota Avalon 2016: Navigation and speedometer problems possibly caused by Flex-Ray bus.

General electric malfunction

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Navigationssystem is not working

Hey guys, I've got a tricky problem with my 2016 Toyota Avalon petrol engine. Strange electronic problems are cropping up, my sat nav is going haywire and a warning light is coming on in the speedometer. I suspect that the Flex-Ray bus might have something to do with it. Has anyone had similar experiences and could tell me how it was fixed in the workshop? Would be really grateful for any tips.

Hello, well, I have little experience with cars, but I had a similar problem with my 2014 Toyota Camry. I had the same electronic problem and also had the repair done in the workshop. The control unit was defective and had to be replaced, which cost me €1000. It would be helpful if you could provide more information about your car, such as mileage and symptoms. Maybe then I can give you more clues?

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. My Avalon already has 248209 kilometers on the clock and the last service was about two months ago. However, they didn't notice anything unusual at the garage. Apart from the sat nav and the warning light, everything is actually running well. No noticeable noises or loss of power. I probably won't be able to avoid having a specialist look at it. 1000€ is a lot of money, I hope it won't be that expensive.

Hey, with the mileage and symptoms mentioned, it definitely sounds like a problem with the electronics. It could be that the ECU in your Avalon also has a fault, like it did in my Camry back in the day. It could even be that the flex relay bus is the problem, but I can't say for sure. I would recommend you get the car in for a checkup as soon as possible. At best, it's just a minor fault that's easy to fix and won't be too expensive. Worst case scenario, you might have to replace the ECU like I did back then. But hey, maybe you're lucky and it's something else after all. I'd be happy if you kept us up to date. Hopefully it's nothing serious and the costs remain manageable.

Sure, that really seems to be the best step. I appreciate your advice and will take the car in for a check tomorrow. Will keep you all posted, hopefully it's nothing too serious. Thanks again for sharing your experience with me. Depending on how it turns out, I may end up buying a new car instead of investing €1000. I hope you have a relaxing evening. Until then, bye!
