Electronic failures and warning light in VW Touran 2006: experience and solutions wanted

Greetings, I currently have a problem with my VW Touran, built in 2006, gasoline engine. General electronic failures, sat nav is going crazy and there is also a warning light in the speedometer. I suspect that it could be due to faulty coding. Has anyone had similar experiences and could give me tips on how to solve the problem? I would be particularly interested to know how your garage solved the problem. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2004 VW Golf. My knowledge of cars is average, but I tried to solve the problem by consulting various garages. In the end it cost 240 euros to fix the problem. The work basically consisted of stabilizing the connection from vehicle to coding program, which was broken. I would suggest getting your car's coding checked at a trusted garage. It might cost some money, but it's worth a try. By the way, have you ever had the fault memory read out? It might also be useful to share more information about your vehicle such as mileage or what parts have been changed recently to help you more specifically. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for the answer! I was afraid it would end up like this... Last service was recently, there were 236230 km on the speedometer. I've already tried reading out the fault, but it didn't really help. I'll follow your advice and go to the nearest garage. I just hope they don't rip me off... So thanks again and keep your fingers crossed!

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! It sounds like you've got everything under control so far. One more tip from me when you go to the garage: good communication is key. Explain to them exactly what the problem is and what tests you have already carried out. It might also be helpful if you tell them that you have already tried reading out the fault. Sometimes it's things you'd least expect that cause problems. In the case of my Golf, it ended up being a damaged earth cable, which led to sporadic electronic failures. So maybe prepare yourself for surprises. In any case, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and hope that your problem is solved quickly. Just stay calm and don't get ripped off. You can handle it!

Hi, thanks for the renewed support and the tip! That's definitely useful to be prepared for surprises, let me see what my garage has to say. I'll keep you posted as soon as I have any news. I'll also have the earthing cable checked. Many thanks again, really great of you. Keep your fingers crossed, I could really do with it!

Yes, a low battery can indeed cause various electrical issues in your car, including triggering the airbag module fault. If your battery is not providing enough power, the car's electrical systems may not function properly. I would recommend starting by checking your battery's voltage and health. If the battery is fine, then you might need to have the airbag module inspected by a professional mechanic.

The first thing I would do is replace the battery. This is often a source of error that is not always considered straight away. This often rectifies electrical faults directly.

While replacing the battery might solve the issue, it's always a good idea to first test the battery's voltage and overall health before deciding to replace it. This way, you can be sure if the battery is the actual cause of the problem or not. If the battery tests fine, then the issue might be elsewhere in the electrical system.

Hello since I installed Carly I unfortunately made a bad coding since on the dashboard. I have the ABS and ESP warning light. How can I fix this? Thank you very much
