Electrical seat fault in the VW Touran 2012: experience and solutions wanted

Electric seats malfunction

|

Fault stored

Hello folks! I'm having a bit of trouble with my VW Touran (built in 2012, diesel, with around 75,760 km on the clock). I'm experiencing a malfunction with the electric seats and my on-board computer is showing a stored fault. I'm almost certain it's something to do with a fault in the passenger seat. Have any of you ever had a similar problem and can help me with your experiences? And how did you get on with it with your mechanic? I wasn't exactly thrilled with his work last time. Would be really grateful for any tips! Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my VW Golf (2015 model year) last time, only it affected the electric window regulator, not the seat. It wasn't a big hassle, but it was necessary and important to replace the electrical component to get everything sorted. The mechanic must have had a lot to do that day, but he did everything and did it pretty perfectly. Yes, actually I would have liked to praise him for that. I hope this helps you a bit!

Hey, thanks for your reply. Fortunately, in your case it's only the window regulator and not the seat. But it's good to know that replacing the electrical components seems to have solved the problem. Can you remember how much it cost you? And has anything else happened since then? I hope you continue to enjoy your Golf and that it doesn't pose too many mysteries.

Fortunately, nothing has happened since the visit to the mechanic, and the fault with the electric seat was then rectified. However, the repair did cost a bit, €290 to be precise, to fix the problem with the flat battery. I think it was worth the price, as everything is now running smoothly again. Let's hope your VW is back in top form soon! Good luck with it and keep us up to date.

Well, that's already a good orientation. I'm glad to hear that your fault has been rectified and everything has been running smoothly ever since. Of course, €290 is a bit expensive, but if the car works perfectly again afterwards, you can get over it. I hope my problem is solved similarly well. I'm now going to my mechanic and hoping for the best. I will definitely let you know how it goes. Thanks again for the information!

Good day, the first thing I would do is check the fuse and wiring under the passenger seat. Then, I would the use a scanner to read fault codes. It could be that this specific issue might be the seat control module. Since you're not satisfied with your mechanic, you could seek a second opinion from other specialists. On a side note: you could also check for recalls or extended warranties on the seat components.

Let our mechanics help you!
