Hey, took a read through your situation and it immediately reminded me of my 2021 Sorento which gave quite a scare with the same control unit issue that mentioned. The bloody warning lights were a nightmare and the radio was blaring static instead of my favorite tunes, it was quite the calamity. My local garage guys did their magic on it, replaced the faulty cable, reset the whole system, and my Sorento was back to its usual self. Damn, it was a relief! Question for you, - how much did you have to shell out to get your Carnival back in shape? Just curious to see if our costs matched up. Also, has your Carnival given you any more issues after the fix? Fingers crossed, mine's been behaving well. Thanks in advance!
Hey, good to hear your Sorento is back on the road and behaving itself! Yeah, those electrical issues can feel like a bad prank sometimes, right? Well, let me tell you, when it came to my Carnival, the bill wasn't too bad considering the work done. I dropped 155.00 € on the whole gig, that's for the troubleshooting and replacing the dodgy cable between the control unit and the BUS system, then resetting everything. Honestly, it did pinch a bit, but seeing my Carnival back to her prime was worth every penny. Since that fix, it's been smooth cruisin' for me. The communication between the control devices has been seeming quite chatty since the visit to the mechanic - no more warning lights or unusual static on the radio. The nav's working like a proper navigator again. No signs of a relapse, fingers crossed! Sounds like your garage guys know their way around a Sorento just as well! Here's hoping our rides keep behaving. Cheers!
Hey, I really appreciate your responses. Sounds like you had a wild ride with your Kia too. It's weirdly comforting knowing I'm not the only one. I totally agree with you, those electrical issues do feel like some bad prank, but I guess it's all part of the journey, huh? Anyway, thanks for the tip about the control unit cable connection. I'm going to mention it to my mechanic when I see them later this afternoon. Hearing your solutions has put my mind at ease a bit more, glad to know your Carnival is behaving well after the fix. If all goes well, mine should follow suit. Cheers for dropping your experience too. And, thanks for the heads up about the cost. 'Penny for peace of mind', as they say. Great to hear your Carnival has been smooth sailing since the fix. Let's hope we can all keep the warning lights at bay for a good while yet. Once again, thanks for all the advice everyone, I'll let you know how it pans out. Fingers crossed!
Hey there, your situation sounds familiar. A few months back, my 2018 Kia Carnival was acting all funky too, just like your Bongo. There were all sorts of electrical gremlins in there. It turned out to be an issue with the control unit's cable connection being defective and messed up the BUS system communication. The lads at my local garage had to dig deep into the car, stripping off a lot of things just to get at the control unit and inspect the wiring. As far as severity, this is not something to brush off but it’s not doomsday either. Turned out the cables to the control unit were faulty and had to be replaced, and to answer your question, that did indeed involve some serious work. After swapping the faulty cable and resetting the BUS system, everything was back to normal - the warning lights were gone, the nav system came back to life, the whole lot. For sure your issue sounds very much the same. I'd say take it back to your mechanic, but be sure to mention the possibility of a defective control unit cable connection and see what they come up with. Hope this helps you.
