Electrical faults in the 2020 Renault Megane Diesel: experiences and tips welcome

Hey guys, my 2020 Renault Megane Diesel with almost 97,000 km mileage is doing strange things. Electrical problems all over the place, sat nav not working, warning light in the speedometer. Last time at the mechanic was a nightmare, so here's the question: Have any of you ever had problems with faulty communication between control units or something similar? Any tips would be appreciated!

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Renault Megane Diesel with 97,000 km is experiencing electrical issues, including a malfunctioning sat nav and warning lights. A similar problem in a 2017 Renault Scenic was caused by faulty communication between control units, specifically a malfunctioning ECU affecting the car's BUS system. The suggested solution is to conduct a diagnostic test to confirm the issue and have it repaired by a mechanic, which resolved the problem in the Scenic.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey, I actually had the same problem with my 2017 Renault Scenic. So, if the symptoms suggest a control unit is faulty and sending incorrect signals to the BUS system, then it's possible because that's exactly what happened to me. Mine was also various electrical problems - the car was going crazy! My mechanic said that a faulty BUS communication process was causing the fault. Either way, it's a serious problem because the malfunctioning ECU can interfere with the car's entire system. I had to have it fixed in the workshop, but after that everything worked perfectly again. Do a diagnostic test and see if the mechanic can confirm it. Have a good trip, buddy!

Hey, thanks for your helpful input on this! I was a bit worried that the control unit was a serious problem... Just curious, can you remember roughly how much it cost you to get this problem fixed? And have you had any similar incidents since then or is everything tip top again now? Thank you!

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for, to help each other, right? So, to answer your questions: the whole thing cost me about €1000, not a cheap affair, I can tell you that. But since then, everything is back to normal. Since I had it done by the mechanic, the communication between the control units has been perfect again. So from that point of view, it was worth the money, because now everything works again as it should. No similar incidents, no more annoying warning lights. I hope everything will be running smoothly again for you too!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply and clarification. It's not cheap, but you can't really run the car when it's acting up like that, can you? I'm going to get it diagnosed and hopefully everything will be fine after that. It's really helpful to have someone with similar experience. Thanks for the help and have a good trip!
