Electrical and battery problems with Skoda Superb petrol engine 2016: experience and solutions wanted

General electric malfunction

Fault stored

Weak battery when starting the engine

Dim or flickering lights

Hi everyone, my 2016 Skoda Superb petrol engine has recently started to go completely haywire. There are general electrical problems, faults are being stored, lights are flickering or dim and when starting the battery is constantly low. I think it could be due to a break in terminal 30. Have any of you had similar problems and can give me tips on how to fix it? How did you get it fixed at the garage and what were your experiences? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, I had a similar issue with my Skoda Octavia, model year 2014, so only a little bit older than yours. I wouldn't say I'm a car professional, but I know my way around a bit. I also had difficulties with the electrics and the battery was often flat. The final problem was actually a faulty battery. The nice people at my garage tested the battery and confirmed that it needed to be replaced. It cost me about 290 euros, which actually wasn't too bad as everything ran normally again afterwards. It could well be that you have a similar problem. I would recommend you get your battery tested at a garage and see if it is actually the problem. If you could provide more information about your vehicle, I might be able to say more. Hope this helps you!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply and the tip! Really cool. I've already had the battery tested at an independent garage and they said it was fine. It was last serviced at 70000 km and I haven't driven that much since then. That's right, maybe I should have it checked at a Skoda garage. It costs a bit more, but maybe I'll find the solution there. Thanks again!

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! It's a shame that the battery is obviously not the problem. It could also be the alternator, which sometimes causes problems with Skodas. My mother's Superb once had a similar problem and it turned out that the alternator was broken. It cost a lot of money, but fixed the problem. Maybe you should take it to the garage. See if you can get some cheap parts somewhere if you need them. You can also take the opportunity to have terminal 30 checked. Good luck with it and hopefully you'll get it sorted soon!

Hello, thanks for the renewed help and the further suggestions! That's right, the alternator could also be a problem. I'll definitely take it up with the garage and also think about terminal 30. Will try to find cheap parts if they are needed. I really hope to solve the problem soon. I'll keep you up to date. Thanks again!
