Electric window problems with the Opel Cascada 2012: experiences and solutions wanted

Power windows malfunction

Hi guys, I currently have a strange problem with my Opel Cascada, model year 2012, gasoline engine. The electric windows are completely out of order. It occurred to me that it could have something to do with a malfunction of the window regulator. Does anyone perhaps know the problem and can give me a few tips? I would be particularly interested to know how the garage solved the problem for you and what experience you have had with it. Thank you very much for your support!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2010 Opel Astra, I would describe myself as someone with a bit of experience with cars but I was certainly surprised when I first had this problem. I took the car to my local mechanic and he had a look at it. Turns out the window regulator control unit was faulty. The repairs cost about 355.0 euros. For more detailed information, however, it would be helpful to know more about your car. How many kilometers have you driven with the car so far? When does this problem usually occur? Are there other problems that occur at the same time? The more you tell us, the better we might be able to help you.

Hey, thanks for the tip! Well, I've already driven 98208 kilometers in the Cascada. The problem with the windows usually occurs in the morning and then sometimes throughout the day. I don't notice any other problems directly, except that the car sometimes ticks a bit when starting. However, it's been a while since the last service. Maybe I should just take it back to the garage. What do you think?

Hey, no problem! I'm glad you gave me this information. It could actually be down to the mileage, as the more you use it, the more likely it is to wear out and therefore malfunction. It's also possible that the cold temperature in the morning is exacerbating the problem - cold temperatures cause some materials to shrink and this could affect the window regulators. The other problem, that your car sometimes stutters when starting, could possibly also have something to do with your electrics. If I were you, I would definitely pay a visit to the garage and mention both problems. It might also be worth catching up on the last service, not just for the current problems, but also for the longevity of your car in general. And you know that if it's actually the window regulator control unit, it's better to ask about the price before they change it. For me it was about 355.0 euros.

Hello, thank you very much for your advice! I guess you're right. I think I'll pay a visit to my trusted mechanic first. The cold could also make a difference, I wouldn't have thought of that now. And yes, I also have the service thing in the back of my mind. You're absolutely right, it's better to keep the car in good shape. Especially with this number of kilometers. I'll definitely ask about the price, as 355 euros is no mean feat. I always thought that would be cheaper. Well, you never stop learning! So thanks again for your help!
