Electric Seat Failure: Grandland X Hybrid Needs Expert Fix

Electric seats malfunction

|

Fault stored

Hey everyone, having some trouble with my 2020 Grandland X Hybrid (226k km). The passenger electric seat stopped working completely and there's an error message showing up. After a bad experience with my previous mechanic, I'm a bit hesitant about where to take it. Has anyone dealt with similar electric seat issues on their Grandland? What was the fix, and can you recommend a reliable mechanic who knows their way around these hybrid models? Thanks in advance!

Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2018 Vauxhall Crossland X Hybrid last summer. The driver's seat stopped working, and I got a "Battery defective" message. Turned out it wasn't just a simple battery issue, there was a problem with the seat control module and some corroded wiring connections underneath. Took it to my local Vauxhall certified service center, and they had to replace the control module and rewire part of the seat's electrical system. It's definitely not a DIY job because these hybrid models have complex electrical systems that need proper diagnostic tools. Since yours is showing an error message, I'd strongly suggest going to an authorized Vauxhall dealer or a certified hybrid specialist. These electrical issues can sometimes indicate larger problems with the car's power management system, so it's worth getting it checked properly. Good luck with the fix!

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Would you mind telling me how much the repair set you back? Also curious if you've had any other electrical niggles pop up since getting it fixed? I've got an Vauxhall dealer about 20 minutes from me, might give them a shot based on your recommendation. Better safe than sorry with these hybrid systems! Cheers!

Hey again! Just wanted to follow up, yeah, I had my Crossland X fixed at the dealer and it cost me 290€ to sort out that battery issue. Honestly, it was worth every penny because I haven't had a single problem with the electrical system since then. The passenger seat error message that was driving me nuts? Completely gone! The dealer did a thorough job diagnosing and fixing everything, and the car's been running like a dream. It's such a relief not having to worry about that annoying error message popping up anymore. I totally get why you'd want to go to the dealer, these hybrid systems can be pretty complex, and it's better to have someone who really knows what they're doing. Just make sure they give you a detailed breakdown of what they're planning to do before they start work. My dealer was pretty good about explaining everything upfront. Let me know how you get on with yours!

Hey! Just wanted to update you, took your advice and went to the Vauxhall dealer. what a difference from my last mechanic! They found the issue pretty quick, turns out it was a faulty wiring harness and control module, just like yours. Set me back about 350€, which wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Got it all sorted last week, and the seat's working perfectly now. No more annoying error messages! The technician also did a quick check of the other electrical systems while it was in, which was a nice bonus. They really seemed to know their stuff with these hybrids. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction, saved me a lot of headache! Definitely sticking with the dealer for any future issues. Cheers for all your help!
