Hey, thanks for your advice! Could definitely be that lambda sensor you're talking about. Can you remember how much you paid for the repair? And have you had any other similar problems since? I hope not! Many thanks in advance!

Hey, you're welcome! So, I spent quite a bit on the repair, 375 euros to be precise. This amount was only for the elimination of the lambda sensor defect. But since I changed the mechanic and the repair was carried out, everything has been running perfectly. The exhaust aftertreatment malfunction was fixed and there have been no more similar problems. Since then I've had no more signs of anything going wrong. Hope this helps you!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. 375 euros is a decent price, but if it helps get my car running smoothly again, then it's definitely worth considering. I'll follow your advice and see another mechanic. Thanks again for your help! I hope it can all be sorted out with a repair.

Hey, I can relate to this, something similar happened to me with my 2010 Toyota Hilux. It sounds like you might have a problem with one of your lambda sensors. I had to have them replaced last time. Black smoke, loss of power and the check engine light may indicate this exact fault. It seems as if your sensor is no longer measuring the air/fuel mixture correctly, causing the mixture to become too rich and not burn completely - hence the black smoke and the smell. It's best to go to another mechanic, replacing the sensors yourself is not rocket science and has to be done. It's not a minor problem either, more of a serious one if it's not fixed. Hope this helps you!
