Thanks for sharing your experience! My Eclipse Cross has 87206 KM on it, and the last service was about 2 months ago. I've been getting error code P0380, though I'm not entirely sure what it means. That's interesting about the ECU, honestly, I was worried it might be something like that. Did you notice any warning signs before your ECU completely failed? And did you go with an OEM part or aftermarket? Just trying to figure out my best option here before heading to the mechanic.
Hey again! Thanks for those details. Yes, actually before my ECU completely failed, I noticed some warning signs that sound exactly like what you're experiencing. About 2-3 weeks before the total failure, my Outlander started showing intermittent symptoms, the unusual power loss and rough idling were the first signs. The P0380 code you're getting is related to the glow plug control module, which was also part of my problem since it's managed by the ECU. I definitely went with an OEM ECU for my repair. While aftermarket parts are cheaper (was offered one for about 400 Euro), I didn't want to risk having issues again. These cars are pretty sensitive when it comes to electronics, and my mechanic strongly recommended sticking with original Mitsubishi parts. With your mileage being similar to what mine was when it failed (I was at about 82000 KM), it's looking more and more like we had the same issue. Just a heads up, if it is the ECU, you'll need to get it programmed specifically for your car after installation. My mechanic had to keep the car for two days to get everything properly set up. Let me know what your mechanic says. I'm really curious if it turns out to be the same problem!
Thanks so much for all this detailed info! It's actually a huge relief to hear someone else went through the same thing and got it sorted out. You've convinced me to go with the OEM part if it turns out to be the ECU, definitely not worth risking issues with aftermarket parts on something this important. I've just booked my car in for tomorrow morning, and I'll make sure to mention your experience to the mechanic. I really appreciate you taking the time to share all this, especially about the programming part, at least now I know I might need to arrange alternative transport for a couple of days! I'll definitely update you once I know what's going on with my car. Thanks again for your help!
Hey there! I had almost the exact same issue with my 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Diesel, so I have some experience with this. The symptoms you're describing sound very similar to what I dealt with last year. My car would also shut off unsual, had rough idle, and the check engine light was constantly on. After taking it to my trusted workshop, they diagnosed it as a faulty ECU (Engine Control Unit). The repair cost me 625 Euro, but it fixed all the issues completely. Haven't had any problems since then. Before jumping to conclusions though, could you share: How many miles/km on your Eclipse Cross? Any recent maintenance done? Are you getting any specific error codes? I've got some basic experience with Mitsubishis, and this info would help me give you better advice.
