Thanks for sharing your experience! Glad to hear it wasn't a major repair. Do you remember roughly how much you paid for the fix? And has everything stayed working properly since then? I'm trying to get an idea of what I might be looking at cost-wise before I take it in. Hoping mine's just a similar cable issue and not something more serious!
Hey again! Yeah, just to update you, I actually got this fixed at my mechanic's last week, and it turned out to be exactly what I suspected: a broken cable in the washer pump assembly. They charged me 155€ for the repair, which included parts and labor. Pretty straightforward job, honestly. And I'm happy to report that since the repair, the headlight cleaning system has been working perfectly! No more error messages or malfunctions. Just like new! It's such a relief, especially now that we're heading into the darker months. So if your issue sounds similar to what I experienced with my Outlander PHEV, you're probably looking at a comparable repair cost. It's definitely worth getting it sorted, these systems are pretty important for safe driving, especially in bad weather. Hope this helps give you a better idea of what to expect! Let me know how it goes with yours.
Thanks so much for the detailed info! Actually, I just got back from the mechanic today, you were spot on! It was indeed a cable issue, and they charged me €165, just slightly more than what you paid. The mechanic I found was really honest and efficient, got it done in about an hour and a half. Took it for a test drive afterward, and the headlight washers are working perfectly now. Such a relief! The mechanic also showed me what was wrong, the cable had completely corroded, probably from all the salt on the roads last winter. They recommended regular cleaning underneath to prevent future issues. Really appreciate everyone's help here. It's great to know I wasn't being overcharged, and now I've found a reliable mechanic I can trust for future repairs. Thanks again for sharing your experiences, made me feel much more confident about getting this fixed!
Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV last winter. The headlight washer system failed completely, and after taking it to my garage, they found a broken cable in the washer pump assembly. The pump itself was fine, but the cable had corroded and snapped due to exposure to water and road salt. The fix wasn't particularly complex, mainly involved replacing the cable assembly and checking the connections. Got it done at my regular garage, and they had me back on the road in about 2 hours. While it wasn't a major mechanical issue, it needed immediate attention since it's a safety feature, especially during winter driving. For reference, my car had around 115k km when this happened. The washer system has been working perfectly since the repair. If you're in need of a mechanic, I'd suggest checking with a Mitsubishi dealer or a certified shop that specializes in Asian vehicles.
