Eclipse Cross Blower Issues: Vent Flap Mystery

Blower does not work properly

Hi all, I'm having an issue with my 2019 Eclipse Cross Hybrid where the blower system isn't working correctly. I suspect it might be related to the rear ventilation flap. Has anyone encountered a similar problem? I'd really appreciate hearing about your repair experiences and what solutions your mechanics found. Any tips on specific parts that needed replacement or common fixes would be super helpful.

Hey there! I've got some experience with car maintenance and had a pretty similar issue with my 2017 Outlander Hybrid (currently also own a Mitsubishi ASX). Had the exact same symptoms, blower acting up and all. Turned out it was indeed the cable servomotor that needed replacing. Took it to my regular workshop, Mike's Auto, and they sorted it out for about 170 Euro. The fix was pretty straightforward once they identified the problem, took them about 2 hours. What's your current mileage and have you noticed any specific patterns when the blower acts up? Like, does it happen more when it's cold or hot outside? This info might help confirm if we're dealing with the same issue.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Yeah, my mileage is at 132120 KM and I just had it serviced last month. The blower usually acts up when I first start the car in the morning, especially on colder days. It'll work fine for like 5-10 minutes, then starts making this weird clicking sound and the airflow becomes really weak. Interesting that you had the same issue with the servomotor, I'll definitely get that checked out. Did you notice any clicking sounds before yours was fixed?

Hey again! Oh that clicking sound you're describing, that's exactly what I heard in my Outlander before getting it fixed! It's like déjà vu hearing you describe those symptoms. My car was doing the exact same thing, especially during those chilly morning starts. Come to think of it, mine was around 128,000 KM when this started happening, pretty close to your mileage. And yes, that clicking noise was my first big red flag, it would start after a few minutes of running the blower, just like yours. It's actually kind of spooky how similar our issues are! After Mike's Auto fixed the servomotor, all those problems disappeared completely. No more clicking, no more weak airflow, it's been working like a charm for the past year and a half. I'd definitely recommend getting it checked out sooner rather than later. The repair cost was worth every penny, and it's way better than waiting until it completely fails (which is what I initially did, and boy, was that uncomfortable during a cold snap!). I know we've got slightly different models, but Mitsubishi tends to use similar components across their hybrid range. If you want, I can share Mike's repair report with you, might help your mechanic pinpoint the issue faster.

Thanks so much for all this detailed info! It's actually a huge relief to hear that you had such a similar experience and got it fixed successfully. The fact that your issues started around the same mileage as mine and had identical symptoms, especially that annoying clicking sound, makes me pretty confident we're dealing with the same problem. I'd really appreciate it if you could share that repair report! I think I'll take it to my mechanic next week before it gets any worse. Last thing I want is to end up stuck without proper heating now that winter's coming. Your experience has definitely helped me feel more prepared for what to expect with the repair. And knowing it's been working perfectly for you for a year and a half after the fix is super reassuring. Thanks again for all your help with this!
