Yeah, sounds exactly like what happened to me! Your mechanic seems to know his stuff. I just had my battery replaced on my Eclipse Cross about 2 months ago and it sorted out most of those issues. Can't remember if I mentioned it, but my start-stop was acting really weird too before the fix. Mind sharing how much you ended up paying for everything? Also, has anything else popped up since the battery replacement? Just wondering if I should keep an eye out for any related problems.
Hey! Thanks for asking about the follow-up. Yeah, I just got back from the mechanic last week actually, cost me 290€ to fix the battery issue. They diagnosed it as "weak/defective" and replaced it. The best part is that annoying error with the start-stop system is completely gone now! It's running like a charm. Since you asked about other issues, nope, haven't had a single problem since the fix. My ASX is running smoother than ever. The starts are strong, lights are bright, and fuel consumption is back to normal. Just keep in mind that these modern batteries need proper maintenance to last longer. My mechanic suggested keeping an eye on any unusual electrical behavior, but honestly, everything's been perfect since the replacement. Glad to hear you got yours sorted too! These Mitsubishis are great cars when everything's working as it should. How's your fuel consumption now? Mine dropped back to normal pretty much immediately after the fix.
Thanks for the detailed update! That's really helpful. My fix was actually pretty similar, cost me around 320€ including diagnostics. Crazy how a failing battery can mess with so many systems! I actually just got back from a long trip yesterday, and I'm happy to say everything's working perfectly now. The fuel consumption has dropped back to normal, I'm getting about 6.5L/100km on highway runs now, which is what it should be. The lights are super bright, and the start-stop system kicks in smoothly every time. Funny story though, when I took it to the mechanic, they initially thought it might be something more serious with the electrical system. The guy's face when he realized it was "just" the battery was priceless! He explained that these modern cars with all their fancy systems are super sensitive to battery health. Really glad it wasn't anything more complicated or expensive. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it's good to know I'm not the only one who's dealt with this. Time to hit the road with my newly energized Eclipse Cross!
Had similar issues with my 2015 Mitsubishi ASX diesel. Started with weak starts and dim lights, especially in the morning. Turned out the battery was failing and couldn't hold charge properly. The start-stop system relies heavily on battery performance, so when it's weak, it affects fuel economy too. Took it to my trusted mechanic last month, he ran diagnostics and found the battery was only operating at 40% capacity. The alternator was working overtime to compensate, which explained the higher fuel consumption. Changed the battery, recalibrated the start-stop system, and everything's back to normal now. Definitely get it checked soon, a failing battery can damage other electrical components if left too long. My mechanic said it was pretty serious because modern diesels have complex electrical systems that need stable power. The warning light you're getting is likely the car trying to tell you the same thing.
