There were simply too many ash particles in the filter and the regeneration could not be completed. The high cost in my case was because the filter had to be replaced. It may be an expensive fix, but I wouldn't recommend you just ignore it. A broken DPF can lead to serious engine damage, and that can be even more expensive. It's also better for the environment.
